Ubisoft announces ‘Assassin’s Creed: Nexus VR’ to be released in time for the holidays
During the Summer Game Fest, Ubisoft Forward streaming event unveiled the first official glimpse of Assassin’s Creed Nexus VR for the Meta Quest platform and announced its release window for the holiday season. The game will be available for Meta Quest Pro, Meta Quest 2, and the newly-revealed Meta Quest 3, but unfortunately, OG Quest users will not be able to play it.
We knew this was coming, as Meta just held a game launch event showcasing Assassin’s Creed Nexus VR, but now there’s a trailer of its own. This trailer is light on actual gameplay and heavy on CGI scenes, but it certainly establishes that you’re playing in first person as a true assassin through the magic of VR. Ubisoft says the game lets you experience parkour-style movement, stealth combat and good old-fashioned boxing in virtual reality.
The game brings back former series protagonists like Ezio as you interact with their memories to access levels. Ubisoft says that for those tired of VR-related nausea, especially when he pulls off fancy parkour moves, the title includes “best-in-class comfort features” to help with vertigo or a fear of heights, though we’re not quite sure what that means. . There’s no price yet, but top-tier Quest games top out at around $40. The game also appears to be an exclusive release for the Quest platform.
